The Amur wildcat is a subspecies of the Leopard cat. Wild cats that inhabit the Korean Peninsula and the Russian Far East from eastern Afghanistan through India and China. It looks just like the Tsushima leopard cat that lives in Japan. That should be it. This is because they are said to be the same in terms of race. It is believed that the Tsushima leopard cat came to Tsushima about 100,000 years ago when it was connected to the continent. Habitat

Amur wildcats are cats that live mainly in Russia.

Characteristic

Amur wildcats are 50-60 cm long and weigh about 3-5 kg. The appearance characteristics are almost the same as the Tsushima leopard cat. The size of the body is about the size of a domestic cat. Therefore, it is almost the same as a domestic cat. The coat color is tan or taupe on the back and white on the abdomen. There are spot-like black horizontal stripes on the inside of the chest and forefoot. Like other cats, they prefer to act alone. Nocturnal animals resting or sleeping during the day. When I take a rest, I hide in the shade of a rock or a cave and take a rest. Like the Leopard cat, it inhabits mountainous and forested areas. Amur wildcats are very good at climbing trees and can get on and off lightly.

Ecology

Amur wildcats eat small animals such as rodents, amphibians, and insects. We also eat crustaceans and small birds. The breeding form is embryonic and polygamy. The breeding season is from January to March, and 1-4 heads can be bred at a time. The gestation period is about 2-3 months. Children will be able to open their eyes about a week after they are born. Sexual maturity is about one to one and a half years. Amur wildcats are said to have a lifespan of about 5 years in the wild.

Endangered species

Amur wildcats have foreign enemies. It is often eaten by large cats. It can also be eaten by the large bird hawk. Furthermore, in recent years, there have been many hunts aimed at the fur of Amur wildcats, and the reality is that they are overfished. Although it is currently considered unlikely to be extinct, its population is declining. The Amur wildcat, like the Tsushima wildcat, is currently designated as an endangered species.

Breeding

Amur wildcats are currently an endangered species and are quite difficult for the general public to breed. So watch it at the zoo or go to Afghanistan, India or Russia.
