Koh Phangan is an island that has become famous for its parties. The Dong Son culture that flourished around 100 BC remains on Koh Phangan in the Gulf of Thailand, Thailand. Buddhism was introduced to this island in the Middle Ages, and temples and other structures were built. Many tourists visit as a beach resort because there are many complicated beaches on the island.

Koh Phangan is an island located in the southern part of Thailand.

history

The island has been inhabited by the Dong Son culture since around 500 BC, and there are evidences that people have already lived there. Many Srivijaya-style temples were built during the Ayutthaya period, and Buddhism spread. Around the 18th century, Chinese people from the Hainan region settled here and engaged in fishing and tin mining, but this has declined in recent years. Since around the 1980s, the tourism industry has flourished, and it has become a tourist attraction in Southeast Asia.

Koh Phangan belongs to a tropical climate. It is hot and humid all year round. Temperatures range from 20°C to 30°C. The rainy season is from May to October, but the rainfall is light and suitable for traveling.

It is a beach with a lively atmosphere where young people gather. It is very famous for the full moon party that is held here every month on the night of the full moon, so it has a very lively atmosphere.

Sightseeing Spot 6 : Pantip Night Market

At night, many stalls of gourmet food including Thai food are opened. On Saturdays, the night market becomes a pedestrian zone. It is a gathering place for local residents and tourists.
