Maribor is the second largest city in Slovenia. Maribor is about 100 km northeast of the capital city Ljubljana, and if anything, it’s faster to get there from Austria. Maribor is a town with a history dating back to the Middle Ages and is known for its beautiful old town. Also, sightseeing spots are relatively dense, so you can go around very easily.

Maribor has appeared in historical documents since around 1200. It was once besieged by the Ottoman Empire, but then came under the control of the Austrian Empire. A huge bronze monument. Many citizens who resisted Nazi Germany were sacrificed, but this memorial was erected to commemorate their liberation from the Nazis.
