Travel

Shiraz is a city in the southwestern part of Iran. It is an old town with a lot of history, and many archaeological sites can be seen as sightseeing spots. Located on a plateau at an altitude of 1600m in southern Iran, it is a calm and comfortable city with little climate change throughout the four seasons. Two famous poets from Iran are born from this land where art and culture are flourishing. There are beautiful mosques, palaces and archaeological sites, and many tourists visit every year.

Location

It is a city in southwestern Iran. The capital of Fars Province. The population is 1.05 million.

Climate

Summers are swelteringly hot and dry, and winters are cold and almost sunny. Throughout the year, the temperature fluctuates between 0 ° C and 37 ° C.

History

It is a city built at the end of the 7th century by the cousin of the Umayyad governor-general of Iraq, Hajjage. It was under the control of the Saffarid dynasty in the latter half of the 9th century and became the capital of the Fars administration of the Buyid dynasty in the 10th century. It was designated by Karim Khan in the 18th century as the capital of the Zand dynasty. A large earthquake struck in the 19th century and many facilities collapsed, but they have been reconstructed and continue to the present day.

There is an image that security is bad and dangerous, but the reality is not so, and the security of cities and regions where general tourists go is normal.

Language

The official language of Iran as a whole is Persian, which is mainly spoken in regions such as Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and the Caucasus region of Russia. Arabic is also used.

Sightseeing Spot 1: Nacil Al Mosque

A mosque famous for its beautiful stainless steel chapel. When the sun shines into the chapel, the stained glass that receives the light shines and a gorgeous light is projected on the floor.

Sightseeing Spot 2: Shah Cheragh Mausoleum

It is the place where Sayyid Ahmad Ebne Muser, the younger brother of Emam Leather, who was martyred here in 835, is enshrined. The internal structure is very beautiful. It is made of mosaic and uses many mirrors. It’s a fantastic space like being in a mirror.

Sightseeing 3: Eram Garden

Built in the middle of the 13th century, it was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011. You can also look for souvenirs at the gift shop, eat or take a break at the restaurant. There is also a museum inside the building.

Sightseeing Spot 4: Bakir Bazaar

A huge market in the historic center of Shiraz. The bazaar has a beautiful courtyard, caravanserai, baths and old shops and is considered one of the best places in Shiraz to buy Persian rugs, spices, copper handicrafts and antiques.

Sightseeing Spot 5: Karim Khan Citadel

It is a fortress in the corner of Shuffledari Square. It was built as a complex during the Zant dynasty in the late 18th century. It was once used as a prison after the fall of the Kajar dynasty. It is now open to the public as a museum operated by the Cultural Heritage Organization of Iran.
