Tashirojima is a small island in Miyagi prefecture, Japan. It is the best cat island in Tohoku, and it has 130 cats while it has only 70 inhabitants. History
The sericulture industry was originally very developed on Tashirojima. Along with this, the mouse, which is the natural enemy of the silk moth, became a problem, and the inhabitants began to keep cats to exterminate the mouse. During the Edo period, the fishing industry was thriving, and cats seeking leftover fish began to gather on this island, and the relationship between fishermen and cats became closer. There are 10 cat shrines in Miyagi prefecture. One day, a fisherman was collecting a heavy rock to set up a large net, and the collapsed rock hit a cat and died, so when he buried a dead cat, a big catch continued. I did. With such a background, cats became cat gods, and shrines were built.

It is common to take a ferry from Ishinomaki City to Tashirojima. Please refer to the following for the route from Sendai. JR, which is a Japanese railway, has an IC card called Suica.
