Endangered Japanese animals: Oriio flying fox
The Orio fox is a subspecies of the Ryukyu flying fox and mainly inhabits Japan. This bat mainly inhabits Okinawa Island and is very similar to the Ryukyu flying fox. Flying foxes live in forests and rarely encounter humans. This bat has been declining in number due to land development in recent years and has been designated as an endangered species. We are in a situation where conservation activities are needed.
