Tegucigalpa is the largest city and capital of Honduras. In the political and economic center, it means "silver hill" in Indio language. It got its name because silver was discovered and mined here a long time ago. The 1998 Hurricane Mitch suffered unprecedented human and material damage, but has been successfully reconstructed.
